IPOH, May 5 (Bernama) — Datuk Jamry Sury, whose immediate transfer out last week was ordered by the Perak Menteri Besar, has been reinstated as the State Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jaip) director.
State Secretary Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Hashim said Jamry was expected to receive his re-appointment letter Monday.
“I have not signed the letter yet but it will be given to him Monday. He (Jamry) will assume his previous post (as Jaip director),” said Abdul Rahman who declined to elaborate as he regarded the case closed.
Met at his office at the Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here, he was asked by reporters on Jamry’s re-appointment after the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah ordered the immediate withdrawal of Jamry’s transfer order issued by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin last Tuesday.
The transfer withdrawal order was contained in a three-page press statement issued on the order of the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah after Mohammad Nizar was summoned to appear before him at Istana Raja Muda Perak last Friday over Jamry’s transfer.
He was transferred out by the new Perak coalition state government as he was claimed to be uncooperative.
Jamry, who has held the Jaip director’s post for three years since 2004, was said to have not been given the opportunity to seek clarification on his transfer and to defend himself.
Mohammad Nizar who earlier said that it was an ordinary transfer for a civil servant, later apologised to Sultan Azlan Shah over the transfer which had not been referred to the Sultan, as the head of Islamic religion and Malay customs in the state.
